Outreach/Workplace ESL Class

I have a new edition to my roster of Lyons Township ESL classes. I have a student who works at a factory McCook, IL. She works long hours, and gets up sometimes at 3:30 or 4:00 A.M. to go to work. She has the brightest attitude about learning despite her lack of sleep. She attends my Tue/Thu night class that finishes at 9:00 P.M.

She's been practicing her English at work. She worked there for many years without speaking English. People had asked her why she didn't learn to speak English sooner. Her supervisor has seen her confidence and her ability to speak improve so much over the last month that he called my supervisor at LT. They've set up a workplace ESL program so I can teach employees right there in the facility. I'll be there for 10 weeks from August to October. How exciting!
