Our Advisory Committee with ALA's American Dream Literacy Initiative

Over the past few months, I have had the opportunity to sit on a small committee of adult literacy advocates led by the American Library Association's Office for Diversity, Literacy, and Outreach Services (ODLOS).

We're teaming up to provide mentoring to the 2017 American Dream Libraries who've received grants in the fifth round of funding from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Advisors, like me, are past recipients of the American Dream grants with an interest in helping libraries all over the country build sustainable collections and impactful programs.

Zina Clark, Program Coordinator at ODLOS, serves as the official contact for The American Dream Literacy Initiative and coordinates our advisors.

Zina has put a great deal of work into helping us become acquainted and strengthen relationships with ALA's leadership. Later this month, we'll get the chance to meet the new American Dream grant recipients at ALA's 2017 Annual Conference and Exhibition in Chicago.

We're hosting a panel discussion on the American Dream Literacy Initiative for a wide audience of stakeholders on Saturday, June 24th, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM at McCormick Place, room W181b.

Would you like to find out more about the American Dream grant opportunity? Get all the information you'll need at our panel discussion and various networking opportunities throughout the conference. Hope to see you there!
